Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of electric vibrative toothbrushing on the tooth abrasiveness and plaque removal.
The authors experimented plaque removal effect of the electric vibrative toothbrushing and compared its effectiveness with that of a conventional handbrushing. 15 dental students aged twentieth were examined the teeth surfaces after the application of disclosing agent and recorded the PHP plaque index before and after toothbrushing.
on the other hand, abrasivity of the vibrate-action and the arcuate-action of. the electric toothbrush were measured to the cow dentin chips by weight loss method. Thereafter, the data was compared statistically and discussed.
The obtained results were as follows :
1. The electric vibrative toothbrushing is as effective as a manuual-toothbrushing in removing dental plaque,
2. Abrasivity of the electric vibrative toothbrushing is much smaller than that of the electric arcuate-action toothbrushing.
